Description
This gristmill was once located in Laurel Hill, Virginia. Construction began in 1770 but it was not completed until after the American Revolution. The mill operated until 1958. The mill became decayed over the years and its timbers started to dry rot. It was dismantled and each piece was numbered and then transported it by truck more than 50 miles so that it could be reconstructed here in Charlottesville, VA (Albemarle County). Gristmill is a mill for grinding grain powered by water.

Judy, just love old mill photos, and this one is just amazing, nestled amongst the trees. I am very happy that you provided this fine piece of art to share with your fellow artists and all potential customers out there. This is a very worthy piece of beauty and is deserving of being Featured in the Wisconsin Flowers and Scenery group. LIKED & FAVED Forever Elvis Randy B. Rosenberger WFS group administrator
